I did it!
Need grey fur!!!
Okay guys maybe some of you out here can help me! Fursuit supplies is currently out of the colors and lengths I need STAT so lets see if any of you have some to spare?
I need -realistic- light grey furs, think snowleopard grey. I need some standard 1.5-2" long pile, as well as LONG pile for cheek tufts. If anyone has some they can spare and can provide pics that'd be fabulous. Will pay via paypal, need it rushed here so paying extra for faster shipping isn't a problem.
If anyone has some greyish NTF scraps they can spare for the cheek fluff that'd be awesome. Just need a little of that, maybe 1 square foot give or take. Need it to be 3" or so, a little longer is fine it can be trimmed. Doing a Khajiit cosplay and trying to get this as true to the reference as I possibly can.
Need 2-3 yards of the 2" pile if anyone has it to spare. Again, can't be the shiny stuff from DF, going for realism.

I hope I didn't double post this, I'm still a newbie! x3
Taxidermy eyes or eye blanks?
I found blanks a while back but they were 20 dollars a piece, and I'm not spending that for something I could mess up on. So any size comparisons or sellers are appreciated :)

Quadsuit wobbly jaw?
Something like Beastcub's canine quads and their mouths.
Thanks!
First foam bases.
Some stuff is temporary (like the shiba's nose),
Basically just posting for critique and thoughts!

Fabric.com new fur?/LF DF Grey Fur
Also! I was looking for grey fur for a Mightyena suit, and was wondering if anybody had extra? I would like a slightly lighter dye lot than what Fabric.com carries, thank you ! I need to know how much of each fur I needed for the digi fullsuit, as well.

Valuable fur resource!
I typically try to find more domestic sellers but when you really need to match a fur, you gotta look EVERYWHERE.
So I'm going to share this place with all of you! I'm not sure how many people know of them, they don't show up in your normal search on the US eBay servers so this could be new for a lot of you!

If you've bought something from them, please share! if you plan on buying/get a swatch of some of their furs, please do share as well! They have a wonderful truffle I'd love to use one day myself but sadly have no project for :P

should i keep doing commissions? and how to remove smoke smell from fursuits...
first. can anyone tell me if im "ready for commissions" looking at my work? this is important, i want to make suits but i dont want to give the customers anything low quality.
this is my first fursuit made for myself; i sold it to one furry i know (here his girlfriend wears it) for 80 polish zl (about 21,5 USD)
this is the second, a commission i talked about before. made on my own (really failed, but i fixed it some way using epoxy) resin blank. here i'm wearing it
third fursuit, it was like a combination of a premade and a commission. the head (my first fully foam based one) had its face furred, then i finished it like the customer wanted and made him two pairs of paws and a tail. on this photo the commissioner is wearing it
and fourth suit and third commission. working on it right now.
about my prices... i'm a beginner so all i take is the price of materials, shipping and 100 Polish zl (about 26,5 USD) for me.
but here we come across a massive problem. as i said my family is poor. in winter a furnace is the only source of heat. we all (4 people) live in a very small room; i have a little place of my own in the corner, wardrobes are the two missing walls there; instead of door i have just a curtain. that wouldnt be a problem... but my "room" is just next to the furnace. anyway the smoke likes to spread all over the house. add to this the fact that every member of my family smokes... and you know what problem i have.
the second commissioner told me that the fursuit smells like smoke and its easily noticeable. this made me want to stop the whole fursuitmaking thing - but i love doing it and its the only little source of money i have...
so that's the another question. is there a way to keep fursuits not smelly? or remove the smell from them? if so, please tell me only universal ways - here in Poland we don't have the majority of things people have for example in America.
and a question that i want to ask. it could be useful if i ever get to afford a fursuit for my own.
that's my fursona.
i'd want to weft his hair, but the method of gluing the hair streaks to fur seems very bad to me... any way to do this diffrerently?
and the stripes. would it be possible to sew these in instead of airbrushing? i could never afford a good airbrush. i've seen people doing this before but im still not sure about it (i have trouble keeping symmetry, for example)
also, any way to make a movable jaw on a fully foam head? a person interested in commissioning me wants something like this.
Machine sewing over hand sewn seams advice
Here's a reference of the character, I hope it links okay.
It should open to FA with the full image (is that alright?)
The arms were hand sewn to the shoulders, the black forearms and lower legs were hand sewn to the upper arms and legs,
The black parts on the shoulder that "spike" into the white chest area were also hand sewn. And the zip was hand sewn.
I took him to a furmeet afterparty and one of the arm-shoulder seams tore when I was dancing.
So I'm wanting to go over all the handsewn seams to strengthen them to prevent futher seams popping.
I use my grandmother's machine, it is some kind of singer. It can handle two layers of fur relatively easy.
What I'm wondering is if anyone has any advice or tips/tricks for going over existing seams on a machine with minimal allowance?
Or should I just handsew over those seams a few times instead of trying on the machine?
As for the zip, do I need to machine sew that or will it be okay just hand sewn?

Shiba Inu Foam base
So here are the improvements for the shiba! I think he looks 10x better now that his muzzle was shortened. Nose is probably temporary, I'll most likely be shaping it up/making it more symmetrical since it's going to be fleeced.
Glasses - shape and attaching
In July I commissioned this fursuit from my ex-friend, she had some issues (e.g. broken resin base), but everything has been corrected. It was very cheap, about $160 + shipping. It looks fine, is very comfortable, there are no major problems with it. I received it in late October, package didn't include glasses, which were also ordered. She couldn't send them later, because she didn't have money for shipping. Two weeks later our friendship broke, nevermind.
It's late January and I still didn't receive the glasses. I don't want to argue with her, so I decided to make glasses on my own.
I made a cardboard template (you can also see it in the first picture, I attached it with tape).
Finished glasses will be made of thick plastic (about 2 millimeters). Two neodymium magnets will be attached inside the fursuit head and two will be attached on the glasses, but the head is made on the resin base, so they may not hold.
Is the shape of the glasses right?
Will the glasses hold on the head?
Is there any risk of health issues related to these magnets?
Thank you for the advice!
How does this look?
Tools and basic beginner essentials.
Right now the main thing for me is I need a list of the most essential basic supplies needed to make a fursuit. Needles, parts, tools, sewing items, etc. I imagine a sewing machine is needed too and im looking into that as well. But the tools, thats really where im drawing a blank. What are the most essential things I should go out and get?
short pile fur for a rott
Usually I rely on Distinctive Fabrics but I checked today and it doesn't look like they have anything (it's also been quite a few years since I've done a fursuit project). I think there used to be a 'seal' type fur that was super short. That's what I want, since I have no skill shaving down fur and don't want to use long pile.
