So I've found out that we have a store that has a wide selection of furs here in Atlanta! I'll be taking pictures and posting them when we get there so keep an eye out! It may be worth your while :D

Super seal in black?
Um, yeah so I'm looking for super seal in black.
Does anyone know where I can get this besides Mendel's? The only one they have is defective, and for me, it's not worth only about 5$ off. It's short enough already and I really don't want to have to worry about hiding seams AND cutting strategically.
I know other fur companies sell stuff under different names, so I'd figure I'd ask here. Plus I'm nervous since I'd like it within the week (if fabric.com has it, I'm just too hesitant to order, since they sometimes take a month to send out)
The regular seal is just too short for my liking. I wish they had super black in stock T_T
Thanks ahead of time!

Gray-Brown Fur?
I've been looking through every fur site I can think of, but I'm having a really hard time finding a grayish brown MEDIUM to LONG pile fur. Can anyone direct me to a color/length similar to this?

One week left!
Less than $500 from my initial goal! To celebrate, I'm upgrading the Gryphon tier to cut and hinged blanks! Similar to the photo, they will have the tearducts and eye area Dremeled and ready for eye installation, and will have the jaw hinged (I've upgraded my hinge method since this base) and cut. These will still need to be padded and will come without jawsets/eyes/nose.
I only have a week left to reach my goal, so please help spread the word or contribute if you can! If the goal isn't met, I will receive nothing and I may not ever have the time to make tutorials again!

Anyone know any sources for this fur?
I'm hunting around for any other suppliers of this fur; the striped fox from Mendel's. http://mendels.com/Striped-Fox.html
Anybody know of any? Mendel's shipping costs have just always put me off a little but I'll get it there if it comes down to it. Many thanks-

Head armatures
Does anyone know the maker of this headform? It's the only one I can find within Australia and it doesn't seem to match any shipping from the States.
Also chasing suggestions (or measurements) of the jane vs joe vs joe large CFX heads. Not really after MM info since they won't ship to Aus for orders under $250.

Tips for digitigrade feet?
This is my first time ever posting something in a live journal community, so have mercy if I've done something wrong!
I've been having a LOT of trouble making footpaws for my fursuit. Like, it' a little silly. I've made footpaws before but they were for a partial.
I've been looking up tutorials but just none of them are working out. I was wondering if anyone has tips for making feet for a digitigrade suit? My deadline is slowly creeping up on me and I'm starting to sweat..

Very Minimal Khajiiti Mask Help. *Image Heavy*
Alright, I'm in need of some help with this mask. The larp community isn't really able to offer me much help since they stick more to historical costumes and not so much fantasy or creature based... Unless you are an orc or a goblin oddly enough. Khajiit will change this.
So I've been trying to make a very minimal Larp safe mask, one I can wear on the field and handle accidental head shots when they happen on occassion and something that can stand up to rain and heat exposure from being outdoors for long periods.
So here is what I have so far.
Here is my Khajiit in game for color refs and such, I'm sculpting her face with the cheek structure of a caracal.
I'm aware the nose is wonky, I stopped to let the clay firm up and to just take a break from it in general. I'm using plasteline clay so it softens up when you work it for too long, let it sit for a while and it firms up nice and hard. Plus when I did the lifecast the right nostril came out weird so I have to build it up more than the left side.
I feel like the eye sockets look a bit odd too, is there a different look they should have? I need to still have my peripheral vision when I wear this and I'm trying or hoping that the fur sits a little flush to my face and not super raised looking around the eyes. They do look uneven, I'll fix that too.
Any opinions on the nose would be helpful, do I have to build it with a bit of an edge or a ditch to glue the fur into so when I fur it the fur meets up to it correctly?
I also have no idea how to add straps to it, I have very short hair on the back of my head, nothing long enough to hide a strap, should I add a strap and hide it with fur that's a similar color to my hair?
If anyone has any tutorials on building ears that would be amazing too, I'm not sure if I want to build the ear on separately or sculpt it into the mask. The issue with sculpting it on is I didn't include my ears in the life cast to know where they sit.
I like the look and placement of these ears.
My issue is I don't know what to make them out of if I don't sculpt them onto the mask. Maybe I could sculpt them as separate pieces and cast them in the resin I'm using so they don't have potential to tear or rip? I'd like to be able to add piercings to them and maybe some ear tufts but how in the world do you fur an ear?
On the topic of furring.... Wow how would you do that for a very low profile mask? Should I use the original methods I've seen using long fur and shaving it down and hope you can't see the backing of the fur? Or is there a short pile fur out there that may work? Granted I do want some tufts of fur on her cheeks and at the top of the mask so it blends into my hair a little bit. I've tossed around the idea of maybe using rabbit or an actual lynx or bobcat hide, or even using some alpaca wool fur used to make teddy bears like this stuff. The fabric is on top and the bears on the bottom are made using different colors of the ALP4/S fur fabric from IntercalMohair on Etsy.
Since its an organic fur would it hold paint better than sympathetic stuff? Has anyone ever used Alpaca or Mohair fur fabric?
Here are some samples of faux fur I picked up and cut down as short as I could with scissors. The top one feels just a little more course than the bottom one, the bottom is a lot more dense. Top is Hazelnut from EverAfter Fabrics on Etsy. Bottom is light tan from FurAccents on Etsy.
Last Question in this pile up of questions, Haha!
Painting. What should I use to paint on her spots and add some caracal red colored accents? Is there a nice paint out there that works really well on synthetic fur? Something weather proof, water proof and something that wont make the fur too stiff? If I went the organic route would color hold better on it? I don't own an airbrush either, are there other options to airbrushing without dropping $300+ on an airbrush kit?
Thanks for any help you guys can offer. First time mask maker here!

Digitigrade suits with polyfill pouches?
I've read a lot on making the pouches, or pockets in other cases as well as going through the memories section. I've also read Matrices tutorial on how to make legs, but I'm not the greatest at understanding things like that. If someone could explain it better for me I would appreciate it!
I was wondering if it would be possible to make a plantigrade cut out of a DTD and create more of a 'pants' like underleg that would then be sewn to the actual digileg padding. I was thinking about making the padding by laying the DTD on its side and tracing the leg onto a large piece of cardboard, then using that as a base to draw how I would want the digilegs to look. After that I was planning on cutting out the pattern on fabric and sewing the two legs together over the pants that I had made as well. I was thinking about stuffing the legs and sewing the two ends shut, then covering the whole thing in tape and cutting it out to use as a fur pattern. Some foam would probably be nice to use as well, more in the butt and calf area to give it some firmer shape.
Any suggestions on if this would work? Hopefully I explained it alright.

Big puffy paws and a jawset?
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14383321
Any tips on making paws so big and fluffy like these? I really love the huge paw pads but would rather make them out of another material--something shiny like vinyl. How can I achieve the same 'finished' looking result?
also does anyone know of any makers who would be okay with making a jawset for a resin head by another maker? I'm contemplating getting a resin head from stuffedpanda but I'm not a fan of taxidermy jawsets. :c

Varying quality with Long Pile Shag/Faux Fur Recently.... o_o;
I wanted to ask, is this normal? And has anybody been experiencing this?
(((I can get photos to better explain this, as soon as this evening on Friday.)))
Back in March or quite a bit ago at the start of 2014 I had shipped some white faux fur either from Fabric.com (most likely) or DF. It was shiny, smooth, elegant, and beyond amazing compared to what i've had with other color shags. It was dearly amazing to me, and it matched perfectly well with black and some red shag I had for the fursuit it's for.
This past month has been harsh. I've gotten white shag fur samples shipped to me, one from DF and one from Fabric.com. This time it's very stringy, appears longer, and the backing is much lighter and more breathable. This to me is a bad thing, and it has caught me off guard severely because now it's resembling something more along the lines of the texture of DF long pile fur or even monkey shag more than longpile standard shag fur. I had DF Lavender shipped to me also with this batch, and it's ALSO stringy and even way darker than normal, and possibly longer but less dense. Just like the white shag.
Is this normal? I'm even doubting this new white shag would even match the old white shag, because it's feeling and looking longer and the backing just isn't giving me any happy faces now that it's thinner.

Last day to contribute!
Alright guys, it's the last day of my Monster Manual's fundraiser! I'm just over $1K from my stretch goal, which will be rewarded by a slew of free video tutorials for the whole world!
Now is the time to share! I know I can do it with your help! The cutoff is midnight PDST, so time is short!

Darts and the female anatomy...
So I just got done cutting out my pattern for my bodysuit and have yet to dart it.
I am a rather, curvacious, busty, slim waisted, female with german hips. =[ *quack* Soooooo for my I got a big old bump smack dab in the middle of the chest pattern. Here's me ref sheet ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/11473070/ ). Its an all white pattern and I'd love to be able to do it all on one piece, but I feel like I'm gonna have to do that thing that those women's dresses do where they cut the pattern in half and make a top and a bottom and then dart up from the waist/belt to underneath the breast.
Its dead late, Ill add pictures of my pattern tomorrow morn.

How to make this head and muzzle shape?
Hello, all! I'm going to attempt to make a fursuit head of my angry dragon character, and I've recently seen a lot of heads that have the face shape that I'm going for. Under the cut are some photos of heads that I'd like to emulate (the base is by TBD fursuits and the dragon head is by The Grotto Creations). Since this will be my first head, I'm wondering what a pattern for a head and muzzle shape like this would look like. Any help with patterning, technique, or materials would be great, thanks!

Keeping arm-sleeves up on shoulders?
Hi guys! I'm having some issues with fursuit repairs that need to be done within a couple of weeks. This place has been awesomely helpful in the past so I figured I would ask here.
When I made the wings (basically constructed like arm-sleeves) for my owl and puffin fursuits, I followed the advice of my sewing mentor, using velcro in the front of the wing (attaching right on the shoulder of the bodysuit) and a pair of velcroed straps behind the back of the suiter to keep the (somewhat heavy) wings on. I originally used this method because I knew that we would be doing some vigorous dancing in our fursuits, so it sounded like a good idea to keep the wings in place.
However, just last night, when practicing a dance in suit, we found out that the velcro on both the strap and straight on the suit appears to be "wearing out" in that the two velcro thingies don't stick to each other any more, so when we move our wings more than a little, they just slide right down our arms.
I thought I would be able to fix the problem by putting elastic in the inside of the wing like many people do with their fursuit arm-sleeves, but this doesn't help either, since in my case the wing is positioned right on the shoulder of the suiter, and since a person's arm is smaller than his/her shoulder, the wing just slides right down again - that is, the elastic doesn't hold because of the shape of the arm.
I would make it easier and sew the wings directly to the suit, but the problem with that is then the suiter can't put their head on because wings don't have the same mobility as hands, and the way the suits are built, putting the head on before the rest isn't a reliable option.
Does anyone have any other ideas for getting the wings to stay on our shoulders?

How can I go about making very thin masks?
I've been following Magpieb0nes on deviantart, who has a wonderful collection of 'LARP' masks and some wolf shrugs. http://magpieb0nes.deviantart.com/gallery/
(Noticeable features include realistic animal masks that doesn't seem to include the traditional foam usage in return making them very thin. Using ones eyes instead of resin cast with mesh. etc etc.)
Right now my goal is to make a bear shrug. Before I dive right into it, I'd like some intial help from the community:
Would this be a mask that I'd have to sculpt, cast, then fur? because it doesn't look like I could go down any other path =S

Arm sleeves tips + tricks?
Hello! My interaction in the community here has been dormant for quite some time, but it feels as though I've finally run into a dilemma that I can ask about. Well, not necessarily a dilemma, but rather just in need of some clarity for how to keep fursuit armsleeves from falling down.
I mentioned to my mom the elastic method where you stretch out the elastic while sewing it to the fur, then it would grip onto your arm and would hold for the duration of fursuiting. However, she felt that if you did such a method, the armsleeves would cut off circulation. We have a pair of rubber gloves that go up past our elbows for when we clean out our 50 gallon fish tank, and they do feel tight after a while.
My question is just whether or not furusit arms tend to stay up on their own or not? I don't want to cut off circulation, however I don't want the person with the armsleeves to be given the burden of constantly pulling their arms up. (Keep in mind, the armsleeves I'm talking about only go up past your elbow or so, not up your shoulders.)
If anyone has any ideas, feel free to bounce them off here! I appreciate your guy's insight on this sort of thing. If this has already been discussed, I apologize in advance. From what I could tell, I did not see anything on this topic here in the forms.
