Horse mane help?

I've been snooping around the "memories" and past entries but haven't found much help with this.

Making a realistic horse suit, was wondering how to go with making the mane for the head. I'm using kanekalon. There's going to be a zipper involved somewhere (preferably in the back of the head) but I'm not entirely sure how to weft or glue the fibres into the head.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
