plastic canvas and follow me eyes help?

I've decided I've had enough of foamies and small weave buckrum. I can't find large weave anywhere, and heard of the plastic canvas. I want to try it, but the holes are larger than I thought they would be. Is that ok? Will my eyes be able to be seen? Is there a certain brand I should use?

Same for follow me eyes. People have said use plastic for the "dome" around the canvas. But what type of plastic is bendable enough to make the dome?
