Well, I ended up getting a lioness partial done rather than make it myself.
I received it today, and I have a few questions. This is my first suit. Pics below the cut!
I'm pretty happy with the head's construction, seems to be made well and there's no foam showing or anything. The moving jaw works really well. It's comfy, but I need to improve the fit a little as when I try to open my jaw, it just slides the mask forward. When I put on a thin beanie and tried again that really helped quite a lot, but the back of the neck is sewn shut so it's hard to keep the beanie on properly when I slip the cowl on over my head. So, I'm thinking that I need to actually attach some kind of padding strips to key areas on the inside of the head. What's the best way to go about doing this? It's a resin mask on the inside. I should also note that the rubber nose and pads seems to have little flecks of white and stuff on them? This might be after effects of casting or something. They don't come off by just rubbing gently so I figure I will need to wash them somehow, is there anything special I need to know about cleaning rubber on suits?
The handpaws are cute! The claws are attached very well and seem pretty sturdy, but the palm pawpads seem to be kind of falling off one of them. They are made of some kind of soft rubber and I think they've been hotglued on (this seems reasonable to me though because I don't think you can stitch rubber?) One of the paws seems mostly OK, but I fear that with wear it'll go the same way.
I will be contacting the maker about this to let them know, but I thought since it's my first suit I'd ask for advice. Shipping it back to the maker isn't really cost-effective for me at this point as they are overseas from me, so I feel I'll need to do any alterations myself. I'm OK with this but I'd like to know how to proceed.
