Wired yarn tail!! :D

Hey, guys.
I just recently started lurking here, and decided to post a thing that I came up with. :D

I've always loved how swishy yarn tails were, and how long the "fur" was compared to stuffed fursuit tails, so I wanted to make a yarn tail for my fursuit that I'm working on.

I ended up figuring out a good and easy wiring method for my yarn tail, by experimenting with my first yarn tail experiment xD

This method is designed for use with a fursuit, with the tail poking out a hole in the suit and the belt beneath the suit.

Okay, here's a picture of me wearing the finished thing!

Sorry for crappy cell phone picture xD

Due to the way I made my yarn tail (the thick braid of yarn in the center), I was able to cram a wire hanger through the center of the braid.

I then bet the ends to make a large oval shape at the base of the tail, and attached it to a belt. I didn't bother taking a picture of the actual tail because it's so dark in my room xD

Here's an illustration of what I did instead!

You basically sandwich the wire oval base you made with two slices of thick fabric and the belt, then sew around the wire, inside and out!

This would probably be easiest if you use a canvas belt, rather than a leather-textured one.

And in retrospect, I would have done good to braid the yarn tail base around the wire BEFORE I even started on the tail.

But yes! I find that it's very springy, it moves naturally when I walk, wags with ease, and I can pose it any way that I wish. It's fairly lightweight too.
It's also fun to smack people with >:D baha.

Hopefully this will be useful to someone! :]
