Cuddle fur: Why not?

The type of fabric in question I'm thinking of is this:

I've never seen this material used on fursuits before, and I'm sure that there is a good reason.
Is it the thin backing? the stretchiness? Does it wear out?
I've seen it in a larger variety of color's lately and it looks like it would be peeerfect for scalie suits. I've used it on plushies before but nothing big. Anyone have experience with this? Would it be an absolute disaster to work with?
