I see lots of tutorials on here about casting latex pawpads, but none about making silicone ones. I know next to nothing about working with either materials or how they react with other substances, but I assume silicone behaves and cures differently than latex. Right now I'm trying to decide which one will suit my needs, and I'm leaning toward silicone because some of my commissioners may have latex allergies.
So, a couple of question about silicone... Can it be colored the same way latex can, by adding acrylic paint to the mixture?
What type of clay should I use for sculpting the pads? (I just bought 8 lbs of Plastiline.. if I can use that, I would be overjoyed :P)
What should I use to craft the mother mold? I have plenty of sculpy if that will work.
Any general pros / cons of working with silicone as opposed to latex?
Also IF there are any silicone casting tutorials out there geared toward making bits and pieces for fursuits... I'd love to see them :)
