I recently purchased some dye for my felt hat, "tulip one-step dye" in olive green from Michaels. Most dyes require hot water and it would give me a lot of troubles because water messes with the shape of a felt hat. It only requires cold water to dye and it can be purchased in a pre-packaged bottle. For fun I used some of the dye on my white arctic fox fur. I left it to soak overnight and rinsed it out, then ran through the washing machine in cold water and air-dry to see the fade. I can't speak for long-term fade. There was no fading witnessed after the single wash I performed. The color is fairly uniform unlike trying to acrylic dye and more importantly no change in texture. The color is hard to capture but can only be described as a minty green. I would like to experiment again with this!
