First, thank you for comments about changing into fursuit and yes, I will go to fursuitlounge community for that next time. What I am trying to figure out is how to go about adding padding to my full suit legs. I have made foam pads that go over the fronts of my thighs to simulate a higher-up-the-leg knee and ones that go behind my calves to simulate hocks to give a bit of a jackleg look. Not too exaggerated. I figure on making the legs in two halves with the seams in front and back, rather than normal pants made with the seams to the sides. That way I can cut the fabric so the shape fits the forms better and am pretty good at hiding seams (I hand sew everything).
The main question is how to attach the foam pieces to the suit fabric. This will be like a set of coveralls or a jumpsuit with a zipper down the front. I have seen it done where another, softer and more comfortable fabric is sewn over the foam on the inside to hold it in place but how the heck to I keep the foam in place while I fit and shape the inner fabric so that it doesn't bunch and fits nice when I put it on? Only way I can figure out is to fit the inner fabric under the foam placed on my legs and cut it to shape and, somehow, pin it together without stabbing myself, taking it off and then sewing.
Tricks? Techniques?
