Very first project! Where does the beginner start

OK after a few years I was able to save up enough money to lay down and buy a very nice Janome Skyline S5 sewing machine after reccomened it by a few people here. Now I know a little about hand sewing and I know I need to learn about using my machine which I will take care of myself.

What I would like to know from the fursuiting community, as I learn to use my machine, what kind of projects should a beginner like me start on to get some practice done for future fursuit making.... particulary gloves or bodysuits, tail whatever? Are there any basic sewing projects or costume kits that one would reccommend? I know now is not the time to go buying yards of fur and start making suits. so i guess I would be practicing with some cheap junk fabric perhaps. Just need to be reccommended some designs or whatever I should start on to get that needed experience and basics in.


Again any help is very appreciated. Im new to this but I pretty much dead set myself to oneday make these costumes. Im totally convinced I can so long as I learn the basics (whatever those are) and keep trying. And now that ive dropped nearly 1000 on a high end sewing machine there is no backing out now.
