Hello guys! New here, but i've lurked around for awhile looking at tips n' tutorials n' stuff! A few weeks ago i finally decided to buckle down and start working on my own head. so i bought some foam from walmart and all the crafting materials and got started!
This is the character! Her name is Sable and she's an Exotic Shorthair cat. Her face structure is super important to me- I want her to keep that cartoony look. "round" face with big wide eyes.
Here's some real pics of the breed
Though for her side view, i've always made her muzzle stick out a tiiiny bit more, but not a lot!
First WIP
this is my very first time building a head, let along working with foam. i really don't want this head to look awful! i would love as much help as i can get.
edit; oh also! i know i need to shave the cheeks more. those were tacked on to see if it made it any better and i had to go to bed since i needed to wake up for work, so they will be trimmed down!
does anyone have suggestions on ways to "round" out the head more to give it an egg-shape? also what should i do with the base under the chin? should i add padding there and connect it to the chin? i think i'm going to try and go over the features with a small 1/2 inch layer of foam to kind of smooth things out but i'm kind of at a loss! there's not many examples of flat face cat fursuits (only one i can find, by bouncy bat)
anyway, redlines or critiques are welcome! please help me ;O; thank you all for your time!

EDIT 1; an update from progress tonight!
still not... great, but getting a little better. after seeing pics and stuff i definitely know of more things i need to fix, making the bottom of the lips overlap onto the cheeks, redoing the drawn eyes i've made... still trying to figure out how to give it a more rounded look on the sides of the head. just wrapping foam? if you have any suggestions i'd appreciate it!
now that i'm home as well and have access to my tablet while posting this, i managed to redline it a bit myself too
any tips on how to achieve these things (the curl? the biggest foam i have is i think 2" thickness? but im assuming i could glue some together and then carve it out), the roundness on the cheeks, or just any tips in general that would be great! also i'd really like maybe ideas on how you install magnets? do you just hot glue them onto the inside of the mask, and then hot glue them onto the back of the part you want to be magnetized?
