Question re jawset springs

Getting ready to glue the fur to my base, yay!!

Question- is some kind of cover put over the jawset springs prior to gluing the fur on, to keep the springs from snagging on seams and such? It's tickling in the back of my head that I've seen this done in tutorials online, though now that I'm looking for them I can't find them.
