Feathers?

Hi! Im making some rather large wings for my fursona. Ive constructed the base out of wire sheeting mesh, and linned the raw edges with fleece. So my question is, how would I make feathers for the wings without having to spend tooo much money on them? Id prefer to constuct my own feathers rather than buy any. I found a tutorial in the memories section for feathers, but i just dont think its what i need. Thoughts? Ill try to get pictures when i get home.
