Casting Tongues and other silicone/Latex items from a silicone mold?

Hello all,
I did a bit of perusing through the memories to try and find what I was looking for but sadly could not come up with a definite answer to the question I have. I am looking into start making my own cast silicone tongues, silicone paw pads, soft noses etc and I was trying to figure out the best ways to go about making a mold for them and then later casting them.

A while back I think I had stumbled across another parts maker who advised using mold star to cast moulds for tongues and such since using any sort of rigid mold would not be a good idea for the molding process. Has anyone had success with this sort of thing? Does the silicone you cast in the mold just adhere itself to the mold? Do I have to use a mold release? Is silicone casting in a silicone mold even a thing?!!?! Do you have a better way that you have found for casting these things? I am no longer looking to outsource my parts with commissions as I want my work to be 100% mine, however i feel really dumb trying to figure this process out. XD

I have made paw pads before but have used only plaster to create the mold and needless to say it is not the greatest thing for capturing minute details such as textures and markings. I am really looking into finding something that works a but better for capturing details like that and wasn't sure if a slow curing silicone was the way to go or if there was something better out there?

Really sorry if this has been answered already or is an obvious answer but I wanted to be sure before I went and bought the items only to have things not work out! Any advice is appreciated! Thank you again!
