Hey there fellow furries! I'm working on building my second fursuit and I've got some construction questions.
To begin with, I'm making a suit of one of my dragon characters. These are the questions I've got:
Head fins: Jaeger's got the typical 3-pronged head fins that you see on a lot of dragons. I'm a little unsure on how best to construct them, though. I would really like them to be stiff and solid rather than floppy, so I'm not sure that making them directly out of foam would accomplish that. I've thought of making them out of a mesh skeleton and then building the foam around them. However, I'm open to any and all suggestions on how best to accomplish the look I'm after!
Fin webbing: The webbing on the head fins is not solid, but is rather translucent. A lot of translucent fabrics I've looked at just seem so flimsy, and I'd like something that can accomplish a translucent look, but still be durable. Is there a fabric or material that can accomplish this?
Tail: Like with the head fins, I don't want the tail to be floppy and just hang behind me. I'd like to it to have a stiffer appearance to it. I've looked on some tutorials, such as Matrice's tutorial and saw that a sculpted foam tail might accomplish this look. I also looked at the delrin rod method on Matrice's site but that seems more for support of a big, bouncy tail. So, is the sculpted foam way the best way to accomplish a stiff looking tail, or are there other ways I could go about it?
Thank you so much in advance, everyone! I'm looking forward to hearing the tips and learning some valuable new techniques along the way :)
