Luxury Shag/DF Fur Bad Batches?

I'm just wondering a couple things, and one of them is rather concerning.

Luxury Shag/Punky Muppet fur is the staple of most fursuits worldwide (just check out the AC-2015 photo... probably 3 in 4 fursuits in that photo use LS/DF Fur). However, the newer runs have been not-so-brilliant and this is rather commonly spoken about among the fursuit builders I watch on Twitter/Facebook. I've also had friends who commissioned fursuits in the last year or two and the fur-pile wasn't properly heat-bonded to the backing, which causes the fursuit to shed any time it does anything... like being hugged, worn, washed, brushed, etc.

I'd love to know your thoughts and opinions on this. As I am receiving a fursuit in August this year, I'm particularly keen on making sure I have GOOD Luxury Shag/Punky Muppet/DF fur from sources where they haven't received a bad batch.

Also: New VS Old DF - the newer stuff has a thinner backing, longer fur pile and spikes/matts up more easily?

I would love to hear your thoughts on this fur. Have you received a bad batch?
