I'd like an opinion on sewing fur vs. gluing fur (on a head). I was leaning towards gluing at first, but now I am not sure.
Gluing is faster, however I do have access to a sewing machine. The things that are keeping me from sewing are:
a. I have little to no sewing experience. (Although I know someone who is fairly experienced and would be willing to help)
b. SEAM. ALLOWANCES. I don't want to cut slits in my foam head to accommodate seam allowances- plus, I will be shaving the fur before putting it on the head. (I heard that it's harder to hide seams this way)
Note: A blanket stitch may solve the "cutting slits" problem, though it would take awhile.
The two main deal breakers for gluing are:
a. Leaving an extra margin and trimming the pieces to match. I just want to trace, cut, and attach. No extra trimming.
b. The fact that the fur will be so short (Not cuddle fleece short, but short) beckons the warning of glue bumps being visible/able to be felt through the fur.
(Tips on making an invisible/near invisible glued seam are welcome)
Which would be safer and offer better results in this situation?
Thank you for answering my questions.
