Whinnyhi.

Sheriff Steed is playing his headless tamborines at MidWest FurFest. They wouldn't let him carry his Colts.

The head is built of plastic canvas and hot glue with foam and fur glued and sewn over it. Has a fan for my forehead and two more for my throat/neck area and a moving jaw. Eyes are painted plastic ladle bowls cut and sanded and sprayed with Krylon clear gloss acrylic, which is tough stuff. Tear duct vision is very good so I can see quite well. Eyelashes are cardstock carefully cut with scissors and stained with coffee. They are fragile but I have not figured out anything better. They look good. I had to install a divider down the center which doubles as a rest against the bridge of my nose and forehead with foam padding of course, which both helps stabilize the head to mine for nodding type movements and also so another person can't see right through from the side, which looks weird. Head is snug like a motorcycle helmet, which helps cooling because dead air pockets do not transfer heat and so it does not flop around on my head. A moving chin strap opens the mouth and springs close it. Has teeth, gums and tongue.

The body is a basic jumpsuit with no arm or leg padding, invisible zipper down the front. I do not like the wrinkling in the arms but dunno what do about it and not that big a deal I guess. I wanted to wear various things on the legs like these barrel racing chinks so no padding other than a hock shaping in the white feathers in back of my calves.

Hoofhands are basic gloves I made inside-out from the same fabrics and large nails made of Super Sculpy and painted with acrylics.

Hooves are cheap loafers sprayed with spray foam (Amazing Stuff) then sculpted and sanded and a fiberglass shell made for the hoof wall. The heel was cut off and a three inch piece of wood put inbewteen the heel and the shoe. The bottoms are real #7 hind (the double toe clips) horse shoes nailed onto the hooves exactly how a farrier would do it, crimped and fitted. Rubber in the area inside the horse shoes is slightly lower so I never have slipped and yet they make a nice clip clop sound on smooth floors. Horse, ya know.

Mane and tail are Kaneklon, white and a tan mixed. Annoyingly tanglysnarly stuff but I like the look. Tail is a pool noodle with small bunches of Kaneklon hot glued along. No photos of the tail here, unfortunately, but I will get some. Tail is attached to an aluminum "butt plate" on the inside which is padded and allows the tail to jut out and curve down not just hang. Makes my butt look better too. Horse.

This is a very comfortable suit to wear for extended periods. I have to double the sox so the hoofshoes fit tight so my feet sweat a bit. Suspenders now help support the chinks which tend to sag lower and lower otherwise. I want my hooves to show.

The sheriff badge was my great grandfathers when he was sheriff of Canon City, Colorado.

Comments welcome.
