So, I've been mulling about this for a bit, and I'm curious...what do you guys think the next big fursuit innovations will be?
I remember when I was 13 and absolutely entranced by the basic suits made in the 1990s...big mascot heads and everything. First, we had Nicodemus. Then Timduru. We had TaniDaReal's tutorials, then, that were very innovative! Then Matrices introduced us to mesh heads, and easy-to-follow tutorials, and makers went wild. Then there was Jax the Bat and his tutorials for balaclava/foam heads that made huge strides in how we construct heads. And from there, fursuit making has exploded in talent and technique. "Luxury shag" fur came around. We've gotten to resin casting, moving jaws, and pouring foam. We have LEDs, heat-moulded plastic and entire makers like Dream Vision Creations, Fursuit Supplies and Copper Tree Synthetics dedicated to making parts for suit building.
My history may be a little off there, but that's how I remember the timeline going, if a little condensed! Please feel free to add your memories of who influenced you, and perhaps who influenced that timeline for you.
What do you think will come next? Blinking eyes like we've got on the Disney suits? More animatronics? Moving ears and better articulated tails? Suits that are simply better constructed and look more "realistic" or "toony"? Are you working on something new yourself?
Sometimes I like looking to the future, as there have been so many who have influenced the past. What do you think?
