Hey guys, so for Anthrocon 2016 I designed a complicated fursuit and I have a few questions.
Her name is kaleidoscope. Also I apologize if any of my questions are in the memories. I already looked there and found some answers, but I might have over looked some.
So first question: since I'm a very young fursuiter, I make my suits out of Joann fabric fun fur. Finally my parent are going to let me get some of the more quality fur to build Kaleidoscope. I've heard that fabric.com has really low quality fur, and Ive heard that they sell the same stuff as fursuit supplies and all the other good quality fur stores. I'm about to order the fur and I'm leaning towards fursuit supplies, but I want to check with more experienced suiters first. Which on is better?
Second question since Kaleidoscope has 3 tails I was wondering if her tails should be thin at the top so that all 3 fit. Is this how I should do it?
Third question. How to you make thin digigrade feet paws without stilts? Like these.
4: kaleidoscope has a very large mane. How would I construct her mane? I goes from the top of her head to the base of her tail. How would you do it? I do not want to use weft hair.
5. Kaleidoscope has very large ears and I was wondering how to make those look realistic. What do you suggest?
6. How would I make a hand paw look realistic? When I make handpaws they always turn out toony looking. am I missing an important point?
7. How would you make large light weight horns and large Saber tooth tiger teeth? Her horns curve around her ears like this.
8. How would I make the flares on kaleidoscopes chin, ears, tails, legs, elbows, and hip? I think that I'll make a paper pattren, sew the tuffs together, and then sew them on the head. Is that the right way to go? For the tuffs on the fore-head I think that I should cut triangles of the fur, sew them together, and then sew them on her head. Is that the way to go too?
9. How do you blend different color furs together? Since I'm using lots of different fur colors, I was wondering how to I make the different fur colors transition the right way?
10. Last one. Since kaleidoscope's tails drag on the ground, I was wondering if I could put wheels on the bottom of the tails. The inside of the tails are going to be pool noodles. would wheels on the bottom of her tails work? Would the tail flop side-ways? Would the wheels cut off the full movement of the tails? would if be better to put a durable material on the bottom of the tails where they drag on the ground. I think that this is the better way to go.
Sorry for the long post. I had a lot of question.😄
