Hey, everybody! I'm working on my third fursuit, and my first partial suit. Technically, it's not even a fursuit, since he's a marine iguana, so I'm making him out of fleece instead.
It was going pretty great until I put together and started stuffing the tail today.
This is only my second non-flat tail. When I made my first tail around two years ago, I was still very new to sewing and didn't exactly know what I was doing. As a result, the tail ended up completely straight, rather than with a curvy profile.
This wasn't a big deal because the project wasn't too serious, so I asked for some advice on how to fix it next time. The conclusion was that the culprit was either overstuffing or stitching it together as I stuffed rather than sewing it all together, leaving a hole in the bottom and stuffing it that way.
I was determined and convinced that I wouldn't make the same mistake this time, but... I was wrong!
I made sure that the pattern was curvier than it really needed to be, I sewed the whole tail together and then started stuffing afterward (I'm using less stuffing than I think I need) and it's still turning out almost completely straight. I'm not quite finished yet because I ran out of stuffing and need to get more, but it's not looking too promising.
So my question is, can anyone tell what I'm doing wrong, or how/whether I can fix this without remaking the whole tail?
