First off I just want to say I am not making a fursuit, but am hoping you guys can help me with my mascot head. I am trying to make Sackboy (from a playstation game)

I have been trying to post on other cosplay sites and no one will offer any advice so hoping someone here will. I bought a bunch of high density foam and made a giant cube shape. I then bought an electric kitchen knife to carve it, however it's very hard to make all the sides even. I was thinking maybe making the shape of the head out of chicken wire or maybe cutting the shapes of the sides of head and then gluing together? I'm not sure, anyone know how to go about making this??
