I know I keep posting frequently, but I work this fast. I have a lot of time on my hands.
Brother Bear did this wonderfully and it was such an appealing and very beautiful look for their bears, especially in the concept art when you look at them. It really caught my eye for what I want to bring to life in the physical realm.
I want this mane for my tauntaun and future suits. I had an idea of making every suit with some curvature to the neck. I like to exaggerate things and it's my trademark in my drawings. I think it's a pretty look.
Here's what I have so far! The head actually looks better with the neck curvature going on.
I need help figuring out what will be the coolest materials to use. Since I'm doing something weird, that nobody else does, I need to be smart about it. Adding additional heat traps isn't common, I don't think for fursuit builders. I have this test run filled with all sorts of scraps of cloth from fleece to t-shirt scraps and its hot and HEAVY and it weighs down the mask so much, my jaw hangs open, partially.
Would polyfill be cooler? I know it will sure as heck be lighter! The enclosure of fabric will be something OTHER than fleece, for sure.
Also, I want the neck to be more expansive, but should I change the pattern at all? I really like what I have now and I'll be using 3 inch fur to accent the mane roll of fur. The rest of the face will be shaved and unshaven 2 inch fur. Would the 3 inch fur be enough to puff out the neck roll and make it fuller-looking?I want the curvature of the neck roll to be easily distinguished as well so where the V-shape is made, that will just be 2 inch fur. Maybe shaved. I'm also probably going to lengthen the tails draping down my front as well with just fur stuffed with polyfill or whatever I might use that's light and comfortable to make the neck appear longer as well.
Before I finalize this, if people say its yea or nea, I will trace it onto cardboard and preserve it forever.
The bosom of the body suit will be especially puffy to accent the female figure. I want people to KNOW I'm a girl tauntaun. My original mask seems controversial if its a female or male even with newly added eye lashes. Its a delimma for some reason and I don't want that happening with this one or any in the future.
