pepakura to make fursuit parts?

I had a dream last night

Where I modeled a fursona's head
and make a pepakura/papercraft like template...
then make it out of fun foam, then resin coat it.

Now I'm wondering, does that sound viable in any way or should I just attempt and experiment to see if it works?
