Hi everyone, two quick questions that I can't find the answers to:
1. Painting realistic 3D follow-me eyes (the ones with the curved backs) how do you guys do it? I've hand painted a set just now but they took lots of work and I don't think the pupils are a consistent size. I tried using a template but the paint smudges at the corners meaning that I have to smooth it out and the pupils still end up different sizes. Would a template work with spray paints or would they just run?
I know with flat eye blanks you can draw or paint a back and stick it straight on but for rounded backs I'm not sure what to do.
2. Using shoe soles for foot bottoms. I recently made play mat soles for my own suit and didn't coat them with shoe goo and they started wearing down really easily. I've heard of using shoe sole bottoms instead but I'm unsure of the shores and thicknesses that are best to use. Any suggestions or recommendations? It's taking far too long to coat the parade soles in shoe goo and it also ends up a little sticky for some reason.
