Attaching claws to footpaws

I've been looking through memories/tutorials and no luck.

How do you attach claws? I made the mistake the first time glueing them to the foam before fur and it was just impossible to fur the paw.

Do you just simply... Glue them onto the fur? Is there some secret method I'm missing? XD I just can't seem to wrap my head around this, of all things.
