Hey guys, I posted a little while ago about my lioness fursuit with the problem pawpads and the head that's just too big.
I've not received any response whatsoever from the maker, I assume he's busy with stuff but I feel a little disappointed there. I wasn't angry or upset at all, just asked for advice on how to proceed.
My biggest priority is making the head fit like it should.
I've been trying to get used to wearing the head, trying to see if it's just something I'm doing that's making it not sit right -- but I have to say I've worn it quite a bit now and it's just giant on me. It fits my boyfriend's head okay, but not me. :( If I grab the head and push it back onto my face, I can see and feel where my head is supposed to sit inside it and the vision and jaw movement would be pretty good. The problem is just that I can't keep it in that position. Just putting the head on, I can't move the jaw and vision is very poor. Trying to open the jaw results in the head sliding down and making me blind. Trying to turn the head results in the same thing, so I have to kind of hunch my shoulders to compensate which looks goofy and is painful to do for long.
I have tried wearing a hat but it's basically impossible to keep it on and in the right place as I put on the head. The back of the head is just cloth so there's no way I can pad the back to keep my face forward. I tried stuffing a hat under my jaw but there's the same problem of keeping it in place and it really wasn't that effective.
I'm really sad.
What I plan to do is get a hold of some kind of material I can use to pad the head and keep my face where it is supposed to be inside the mask. By my guess I'm going to need a lot of foam, and probably some kind of plate I can affix to the back of the resin mask to help stop it sliding forward. The elastic straps on the back of the resin mask don't seem to be enough to keep it from sliding off. Padding the straps is not very effective because the straps are very stretchy.
I have no idea what kind of materials I should be looking for but I know a lot of you people will know!
I am wondering if I can offer up a trade. I have a CarnFX Leopard Jawset.
I was planning on keeping it in case a tooth broke in the mask or if I was going to build a head on my own. I'm wondering if I can trade it to someone for some foam or whatever supplies will help me to pad the mask out so it will fit my face properly. It's absolutely huge on my face so I'm afraid I'm going to need a lot of whatever it is.
The jaws are very nice and incredibly lightweight, no flaws that I can tell of. It's 4" at the widest point across and about 4" long. If not for the lower teeth already installed in my mask, it'd fit inside the resin blank really well but it doesn't quite interlock with the sculpy teeth already installed. I am just holding them in place here so forgive the slight crooked look. They'd fit great.
It is cast from bone so would need to be painted or have gums sculpted over them.
I live in the UK. I'm willing to ship the jawset anywhere worldwide in exchange for what I need. :) Thanks for your advice and consideration.
