So I was at this mildly adult puppet show (think Avenue Q) and I was talking to some people about the construction of the puppets used. Anyways, they told me of a completely new method that I've certainly never heard of for smoothing out foam heads.
Get this, to smooth the puppets' heads they use.... A BELT SANDER!
It completely blew my mind when they said that! They said the trick to it is A) a clean sanding belt (duh) and B) wet the foam a little with a mister so the head doesn't catch (don't want to be ripping off cheeks).
It seems like it would be so much easier than using tiny scissors or box cutters and I'm incredibly tempted to test out the effectiveness of this new method.Has anyone ever heard of this or done this with their costume heads?
