Hey guys!
I finished up a really cool project that I am SO excited to show you!

It is malameux's character, a Binturong!
He hasn't decided on a name yet, but Binturong is working for now. :3

malameux is my boyfriend of over 7 years, and he finally has a fursuit for himself. He's shared many of my fursuits, and even had some of animals that became his character for a bit in the past, but this one was built just for him of his own character. :D

This guy has lots of features!
The entire head was built to be washable, made on a 1/2 inch foam base, fully lined with ear vents, and a soft stuffed and detailed lycra nose. I tried a new eye style using plastic as the eye mesh, it is painted in acrylic paint and sealed.

The nose is also a new design, made from lycra and interfacing sewn to resemble a Binturong's unique nose shape. I took progress pictures as I sewed up the nose and posted the pic series over Twitter when I was working it out! Not exactly a tutorial, but shows its construction!

I backed it with fleece and cut a slit in the fleece to turn it and stuff it, and stuffed it with Polyfil, then I sewed the edge of the nose (so the fleece backing would not show but would hold in the stuffing) to the muzzle. Then I took a dollmaker's needle (a very long thin needle) and sewed the nostrils down through all layers of the muzzle.

The long white whiskers are nylon, I acquired more than I needed and have whiskers now for sale in my etsy store!

Additionally every single white hair is made of brushed out yarn that has been hand tied into the backing, it is more apparent in person, but the hairs are on the face, back of the head, elbows, and chest. The ear tufts are also navy blue and black brushed out yarn pieces tied into the backing of the tip of the ear fur. I will later be adding NFT fur for longer ear tufts.

Hand and feetpaws are detailed with the print-shape of a Binturong they aren't an animal that has paw pads really, more of a leathery paw shape, but I had to adapt it to a human glove so I went with the print shape appliqued on in Marine Vinyl. The footpaws are washable with a removable outer shell. The fingers and toes have soft claws.

The tail is as long as the body, inside is a string to make the tail curl up so it does not touch the ground. Binturongs as a species have a prehensile tail, and this was as close we could get to that sort of thing while keeping it a simple design, I'm pretty proud of that! The tail is attached to the bodysuit, but able to be removed for washing via a zipper around the tail's base.

The body has a dropped crotch to extend the length of the body, so he looks longer and also so the hind legs are stubbier looking, the legs are 20 inches long. Binturongs as far as we can tell from tracks and videos are plantigrade animals (they seem to primarily use their whole foot to walk, stand and climb), so he has plantigrade footpaws and padded out haunches to match the animal's shape. The inside padding is one piece.

Binturong-Final

The long fur is Royal Blue Supershag acquired from I'm Stuffed Fur, The Navy blue on the toes, ear backs and fingertips was from Mendel's, the Royal Blue on the tummy, arms, tailtip and legs was from Fabric.com and the cream on the muzzle, ears and eyedots I had found locally, there is also a very small amount of an amazing seal navy blue on the inner ears and eyebrows that my friend Apoxon gave me.

FYI, I'm always open to critique on fursuit-related stuff. I'm always trying to improve & figure out different ways to do stuff.

I am so proud of this costume! :D I finished the main construction of the head April 2nd 2013, finished the body April 6 2013.
