Hello again, first time fursuiter posting again.
This is to A) Thank everyone for all their help on my first suit, B) Show off pictures of the (semi) finished product, and C) Get some advice on a second suit.
OKay first off, thanking everybody for being awesome awesome people and giving me pointer and links on my initial post about the WereDingo Sniper costume. I ended up rushing it at the very last minute, so there are somethings I know I will be going back over and fixing up, but I'm happy enough with it right now to let it be and start on another costume.
So here's the pictures I have of the WereDingo:
Back of the bodysuit. The color is a bit off and still is, I'll be needing to repaint it again later. The back fur is also slightly loose, it was just tacked in place so I need to finish that as well.
From the front. As you can see, the colors don't gradiate so well, I want to work on that more in the future.
My pawboots, which turned out ridiculously well for a first time try. I do need to invest in some gel insoles, though, they're hard on the feet after a while.
Close ups of the paws. The pads were pleather hot glued in place and made the fingers almost impossible to flex, I was extremely disappointed I've invested in removable gloves for my next costume and will eventually get a pair for this costume as well. Liquid Latex instead...?
I may also look into making a head for this if I ever get the time and Bunny's head works out alright, I like the idea of having a full one WereDingo set.
And now for Bunnymund.
For people who don't know, this is E Aster Bunnymund, the Easter Bunny, from Rise of the Guardians:
He's Australian and awesome and I kinda fell in love with him after the third or fourth viewing of the movie. Understandably, my next goal was to see if I couldn't try making a costume of him.
These are the rough plans I've made:
I've already planned on having a chest zipper, removable gloves and a removable head/mask. My main concerns at this point in time is determining how to make digitigrade legs with big feet without making me look like a complete idiot. CanineHybrid recently put up a WIP of her character Riley, a German Shepherd dog, and the strip foam padding looks AMAZING. However, Bunny has MASSIVE feet, and I'm not entirely sure how to pull it off without me looking completely unrealistic and ridiculous.
I've been looking at fur already, since I've already dedicated myself to making this, and have fallen in love with Distinctive Fabrics. Beautiful, beautiful high quality fur, my mother has already bookmarked it for her bear making business.
These are the swatches of the fabric I've picked out for Bunny:
From left to right-
Extra Long (gray)
Monkey Shag (white)
Long (gray)
From left to right-
Minky Velvet (white)
Suede (khaki, tan, brown)
I'm debating on how long I should be making Bunny's fur, since he seems to be in his spring coat in the movie and ranges from very short soft fur on his paws to long tufts off his shoulders, elbows and ears with a big fluffy tail. I'm tempted to go long and then just shave down, but I'm afraid of maybe going too long.
The minky and suede I picked for palm and paw pads, since I want to make the whole suit very soft and huggable but also very close to what we see in the film, including his big square paw-fingers and three-toed feet.
My mother and I have been debating on how to build the ears and muzzle onto the balaclava/hood, tossing up ideas with stiff gardening wire and plastic boning, but I'd like an opinion from those with more experience with building large scale costumes. Any help at all would be brilliant.
