I have a commission currently where one of the defining characteristics of the character is big meaty forearms and hands. Currently my plan is to make the form out of polyfill and lycra, that way it's flexible and washable. But I'm having some mental technical difficulties mostly in the areas of dexterity and where I should go about attaching the actual hands/arms to the body.
Here's a reference. Obviously there's a little play available with the actual proportions of the arms and hands, but it is a defining part of the character and so they need to be pretty noticeably brawny. I want to give him as much dexterity as possible, but of course it's not going to be a whole lot no matter what I do. XD My plan so far in more detail: The forearms will be flat pillows that go around the wearer's forearms and secure (leaning towards magnets). The hands will basically be shaped from pillows, too, but with some sort of rigid object to each finger that gives length and some amount of dexterity (we were testing this with sharpies XD).
My issue lies in where I want the hands/arms to attach to the body. I prefer to give him as much freedom as possible to get into and out of the suit on his own, but that makes things a tad difficult. I'm considering having it all attached and leaving an opening at the wrist so that he can get his hands out when he needs to, but that begs the question as to how the pillows are going to be inserted and removed.
If anyone has any good ideas or critique on what I've already come up with, I'd love to hear it.
