Hey everyone!
Ok, I am working on a quadsuit of the macawnivore "Chunky" from The Croods. Basically he is a saber tooth tiger with the coloring of a macaw. For reference, after the break, I have my poorly drawn concept picture of him and an actual picture of his face from an advertisement. I can't find any (good) full body shots of him, so I drew my own. He seems to have legs like a munchkin cat or corgi dog. My question for all you brilliant people is - how should I go about making his stubby legs? As you can see in normal quads, it's hard enough to make proportionate legs for regular animals! I know I can just pad my stomach/ chest a lot, but if anyone has any tips or tricks to make it look more realistic, I would greatly appreciate it.
Also, I have his head mostly completed and the eyes will need to be about 4" in diameter (his head is HUGE in comparison to the rest of his body). I want to make "follow me" eyes in a semi realistic fashion. What material would be best? I am currently planning on getting those Christmas ornament balls that are used in crafts a lot (clear plastic ones). Has anyone tried using those before? They seem like a feasible material, but you never know!
Here is his face:
Here's my version of his body (I apologize for it's crudeness- I drew it quickly just to show everyone what his body looks like):
