I posted to this community once ages ago but wound up never finishing the head I had shown due to not being able to afford the fur for the whole thing. However, I did eventually finish a partial (which won a Novice prize in the Furry division of a local con and I'm very proud of~) and learned from some of my mistakes on that.
As a fox, there were plenty of resources to find help for that particular character. However, for my fullsuit, I'm planning on a dragon and there are just a couple of questions I have dealing with the design I have for her that I couldn't find tutorials for.
I'm not sure about how to do the hair but my main concerns are more with the body, including the wings and tail. How do I get them to stay in the positions I want them in? As for the fire on the tail, what should I make it from? I have seen some old Chamander plushies that used fur for the fire and it seemed to work alright but if anyone has better ideas I'm all ears. And also the sections between the wings and ear fins, I have considered the semi-see-through mesh material you see on pettifcoats, but would it be too fragile? I would also like to do something with her tongue so that I can make it long and pull it out of the mouth when I like to show the full length of it. Do you suppose a small strip of velcro hidden in the mouth would do the trick for holding it in place when I don't want it out? Lastly, most dragon furs appear to use a round faced design rather than the beaky look I want. Is it possible to pull off with foam or should I make the muzzle from clay and somehow attach it to the foam head? Any advice on some of these things would be much appreciated!
Sorry for the post being so long as well. I just didn't want to make post after post about it. ^^;
