Form fitting fleece handpaws

I'm wanting to do some really close-form fitting fleece handpaws. Every glove pattern I come across has a separate thumb. Considering I'm going to be working on fleece, I don't want the thumb to have a visable seam on the palm of the hand. All of the faux fur handpaw tutorials I see don't have the thumb piece there. Is it really necessary? Also, the spacers on the sides of the fingers.
