Laying Duct Tape Pattern Flat

So I've laid duct tape over my footpaws and cut it off, but now I've come to an issue--some pieces, especially the toes, are curved in a way that I can't trace them onto fur. How can I make it so that they're flat pieces? I'm trying to figure out a way to possibly cut them and re-tape them so that they're flat, but I don't want to start before I know what I'm doing.

I believe I've seen a tutorial involving the laying flat of tape, but I seem to have misplaced it. Whoops!
