Seeking criticism - Bird head WIPs

Hello! My name is YuPuffin, but you can call me Yu. After spending a few weeks around here reading tutorials, I started my first two fursuit heads. (I've only made a pair of footpaws before.) Since I don't have experience making fursuits and I want them to turn out as well as possible, I thought I'd post my foamwork here. I'm trying to go for more realistic heads, staying away from more cartoon-style features.

First up is the barn owl head for someone I will call Aki. I decided to do the owl first since its face proportions are more similar to those of a human (and I'm glad I did after the difficulty I experienced with my second head). I didn't expect it to come out actually looking like an owl, since I have trouble drawing owls, but thanks to Aki I got some proportion tips. I still feel like this head can be improved somehow, though. The head has vision through the eyes and tear-ducts.

Second is the tufted puffin head I'm making for myself. Now this one is in very early WIPy stages because I managed to run out of foam just as I was going to fix up the face padding and add the lower beak. I haven't done any work below the upper beak yet, since that was where I was working when I used up all of my foam. (Right now it sort of looks like an eagle. :U ) Though the big beak was troublesome, the overall head design was easier to work with since I have experience drawing puffins. The red lines on the top are notes for the boundary between the darker feathers and the tufts. This head has vision out the beak - I spent an hour sketching and that was the only way I could position it without making it too toony.

Again, comments and critique are appreciated, since these are my first heads and I'd rather not have them end up on one of those bad-fursuit galleries...
