This is my third attempt at a fursuit head, and arguably my most successful. It's the first one I am actually happy with. She's a corgi, inspired by Andie's candies (I was going for more of a minty green but I wasn't able to find the right color ).
She was built on a balaclava base, with a moving jaw (which works beautifully). Her eyes are made of buckram and allow excellent vision. Overall I am very happy with the way she came out, but there are a couple of problems I would like to address:
- I will never, ever hot-glue my seams again. The seams are hidden, visually, but when you run a hand over her fur you can feel where they are, because of how the glue dried.
- I had to re-make her tape pattern several times throughout the furring process. I would start at the nose, and by the time I got back to her eyebrows, the pattern was completely distorted. I think this is because I put too much cushioning between the seams... I think if they were sewn, I wouldn't have had this problem.
- She's pretty symmetrical, aside from her eyes being a *little* bit off. What are some good tricks to getting a perfectly symmetrical head?
- The follow-me eyes work, but not as well as I'd hoped. I'm not sure if it's the angle that's off, or if I set them too deep into the head.
- Lastly, I always seem to have this problem where my suit necks are too tight. This one *barely* fits me, and I had to cut slits in the neck so that I could squeeze into it. Would installing a zipper in the back help? Am I not measuring something right? Are there other ways of making sure the neck will be big enough?
