Just decided at 2am last night I'd start making some ears. They're the first set I've ever made, so I'd love some crits, tips, etc. I also put in a process of how I made them if it helps anyone.

They're really more lynx inspired. I did use this pic for the back of them ( http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/images/lynx_inset_siberian_ears.jpg ) I got to use my new clippers and boy do I not miss doing this with scissors. I've love to change the headband to a different one as well, but I am also unsure what is the best headband to use for these bad boys. I've seen all kinds from the elastic ones (they hate my head, lol) to smaller ones with teeth.
I did discover that using a sponge brush for dry brushing worked really well for me.
1. I could just rub the fur off into a ball and keep using it.
2. It kept water better so I used less and thus the fur got less wet overall.
3. I could wash it when done and re-use it.
The insides are just foamies. First I put the headband down on the foamies, traced along the edge. From that edge I sketched the ear off of. Once I was happy I cut it out, then traced it so I had 4 ear shaped foamies.
Next I took one and drew so that a small edge was left along the sides like an ear cartilage. I cut it out, then used that as a template to do another one off one of the pre-cut ear shapes. Then they got glued together.
From this you guys know how to cut out fur and sew them together.
Glued the foam side with the cartilage edge to the fur really well then turned inside out. Jammed my hotglue gun in there as far as I could, then pressed down and worked my way to the bottom. (Leave a centimeter edge on the back.) Then I hid the edge of the fur on the back and folded it over to the front to hide it. Dry brushed. Glued the ears on, and tada. Nothing spectacular.
Still, I'd love to hear what could be done better. ^^
