Just wanted to give an update with the results of my attempt to paint a cast silicone piece with more silicone+a bit of pigment. It turned out great! This method would not work if your mold was highly detailed, but is fine if it's a more simple shape. It seems to be a way to smooth out minor imperfections (air bubbles) as well! Additionally, it is a way to make a piece have a wet look if the original mold was say, cast from clay, and did not.
I'm currently using dragon skin, so i'm not exactly sure how well this would work for other materials, but I figured I'd share!
