Blood Dipped/dyed tail?

So I'm working on editing a sona and I wanted to give them a tail that looks 'blood dipped' and I was wondering if this would be possible in fursuit form? would someone just need to get fabric dye and dip/ smudge the color around or is there more to it?
I dont want to use paint because it can get hard. I want the fur to feel normal.
