Advice please: Magnetic detachable tail?

Hello,

So I'm designing a tail for a gecko fursuit and I want it to be detachable (both for convenience and also because, well, detachable gecko tail). My problem is I believe the magnets I picked were either too small or too weak, possibly a combination.

Which type of magnet would be recommended to hold the weight of a larger/long tail (size/brand/type?). Any input would be greatly appreciated. Here is a picture of said tail:
