Methods of creating head pattern that aren't so problematic?

I tried using the duct tape method of where you dull the tape by putting it against standard cloth/cotton a few times before applying it to the head, but it's become a huge mess where some pieces just haven't stuck together right, rips, shreds, too much foam sticking to some of it and it sticks together when I take it off the head X_x. I was just wondering what other methods I could do instead. Thanks guys ^-^; hahha.

Edit: Uh.... Do I go tension lower or higher? My material often gets stuck and messes up my thread in my spool- I don't want to break my machine again since I just paid a large sum to fix it- please let me know the problem ^^; 
It's clumping underneath my fabric too. Tension setting is at about 7.25
   

As a life update, i'll be making fursuits as a career. I will see you all on this community much more often and shall do tons of suits expecting to spend a long time to get realllly good! :3
