First Fursuit critique/criticism/help! Kinda urgent!

hello! this is my first post, kinda rushed because i'm kind of in a hurry for this.
i'm building a partial fursuit, my very first fursuit, and i'm almost completely lost. things were going well, but i'm realizing now that my fursuit isn't as good as i'd like it to be (i'm kind of a perfectionist)
i want to wear my fursuit to a local convention on april 8th. which is just around the corner, and i still need to fur it! i'll explain in depth my issues, and show pictures of the foam head under the cut.

firstly, here's my fursona, which i'm basing the fursuit off of. a little ambitious, i know, but i really wanna be a fursuit maker and so i thought diving head-first into a tough project would help me to learn faster.

here's one of the first pics i took of him, after finishing the head. i was happy with it at the time, but since then i've shaved the cheeks down since they're a bit too bulgy. i also think the smile is kinda doofy looking, compared to other suits who look like they're actually smiling, instead of this smile which just looks like an awkward fake smile.

here's one of the big problems, the jaw is floppy and won't stay centered. it likes to squish to one side, and stay there. but, considering my weird "floating jaw" setup (shown in next picture) that could be it.

the head was made using tiny1badger's foam head method. they said it wasn't meant for beginners, but personally i didn't want to do a bucket foam head, since i wanted a round, big head. so, the head covers my face and half of the back of my head, but that's it. on the side you could see my ears, and on the back you could see my hair. i'm sure furring it will solve some of this, but it looks a little weird to me. and that weird piece of foam and elastic arrangement in there is my "moving jaw". when i'm not wearing the suit, the head just has a big hole in the mouth/chin area and it's kinda creepy. but when i have the head on, it looks fine, minus the jaw always curving to one side. (the jaw piece itself is symmetrical, however it tends to curve)

i know my first fursuit cant be perfect, and it would be better if i didn't have a deadline, but unfortunately i'm faced with this. please, please help if you can! i'd appreciate constructive criticism, but i need as much advice as i can get.
