Running into a bit of a conundrum with attaching my feet to my digitigrade legs. I was hoping some of you experts could help me.
Here's an in-progress photo of my legs currently! I'm building the foam padding on top of sweat-wicking spandex leggings. The plan is to sew spandex around the foam to secure it. Kinda like the pillow-padding, but attached to pants. This way I get the ease of washing since it's unattached to the fur, but with more control and sculpted form than four pillows can't achieve.
The problem is that since the feet smoothly transition and connect directly into the leg, I can't detach the fur from the foam and keep the transition.
I could cut the foam at the ankle, right before the feet curve into the legs, and fur the feet and legs separately, but i'm worried it'll look bad. The digitigrade legs would then have to bell out and fur in, and i worry that would create an obvious seam. The fur has a 2" long pile, so it hides seams decently but I really love the smooth and stompy vibe I've got currently, and would hate to ruin that... but never being able to wash the suit would certainly be worse. Other than cutting at the ankle and furring, i can't think of a way to both secure the fur around the shoes/toes and be able to separate the fur from the inner leggings.
Are there other clever seamless ways of flowing digitigrade legs into feet?
Does anyone have examples of separate digitigrade legs and feet? That would help immensely! Thanks all!
