So I bought some really cute claw molds that I've been wanting to use for a while. Only just today did I realize that the Dick Blick down the street sells Smooth-On resins!
So now I'm trying to figure out what to do.
The 300 is an opaque, white resin. The 325 is a clearish resin.
Could I cast a bunch of claws to paint as needed? They would obviously be sealed afterwards. Or would it be useless as they'd still chip?
If I get the 325 resin, are there any ways to pigment it without the pigments they sell? Not only are they rather expensive (and not sold at Blick) but I've read nothing but horror stories with most of them. I've seen people use things like chalk to color them..but my biggest gripe is the lack of colors available in their dyes. Could I use, say, acrylic paint? And what if I'm trying to create opaque claws? I don't want to have to buy and keep track of both types of resin -- is there a way to make 325 claws be opaque?
