Has anyone used flocking to fur a resin or solid head base?
I stumbled across a feline fursuit mask the other day which instead of being furred, had fur sculpted into it. But then I was a dope, didn't bookmark it and the closest I can find is - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13481279/.
It looks great but it was kinda shiny and it reminded me of short, soft flocking you get on miniature scenery. I had a quick browse of a few videos and it didn't look like a hard process. Although, I'm grossed out by those flocked nails...
I'm planning to try my hand at making a "use your own eyes" mask ( as my current is a little on the big side and can't be taken out many places). I'm not sure how furring something solid like waterproof papermache or resin would be, I'd imagine it would be hard without any give from the foam. I'd had thought flocking would give the same effect as furring, but shorter pile.
It'd also match the skin around my eyes better, rather than looking like two bare eyes poking out of a fluffy mask.
Thoughts?
