Holding up faun legs?

Hello!
I've recently been working on a 3/4 horse suit, and I've come to the legs. Finally, after a very frustrating hassle with my sewing machine, I have the legs all sewn and padded. As it was late, I went to bed pondering on how to keep the legs up and secure because the weight of the fur and stuffing. I don't want to stretch the fur near the top, so hooking suspenders to the raw fur wouldn't be Ideal. Should I sew a belt to the top of the legs? Should I make little elastic loops to thread the belt through, or should I just sew the belt to the fur? Is there a better way of going about this that I'm just not thinking of? And if it helps at all, I plan on lining the top of the legs with fleece to finish the look.
I've also added a few pictures if ithelps any. Sorry for the awkward angle. There also work in progress so I haven't finished it up at all.
