I bought a pack of 5 Swiss Warbler bird whistles for $16. I know how to use bird whistles; being very careful not to touch the membrane, put the whistle in your mouth with the paper edge facing the back of your mouth. Let the paper part get good and wet. Gently move the whistle to the tip of your tongue. Lightly press to the roof of your mouth, and make a "SSS" sound. I've tried with three of them, all without success. They won't make a single sound.
So, am I missing something? I noticed something odd about the membranes; they look very cheap and flimsy, and though I'm not touching them, after I take them out of my mouth, they are "rippled", like saran wrap.
Are the whistles duds or am I doing something wrong? I'd like to hear from people who've used bird whistles with success before.
Thank you.
