This is rather urgent, as I am pressed for time and need to get this pattern finished as soon as possible. I taped up my fursuit head's ears and removed the pattern. One thing I can't figure out is how to lay the ear pattern flat. I tried just using darts last time, and it really messed up the fabric pattern, so I started over.

This is the pattern AFTER I separated the front part of the ear pattern (pictured below) from the primary piece. I did not do this last time, I just used darts; this is what messed up the previous pattern piece.

The problem I'm having is this; how do I lay the rest of the pattern flat? Should I cut the curved part into an entirely separate piece, as I did with the front part pictured above? (I would be cutting along the line I drew on the... curved part, whatever you call it)

My concern with doing that is the seam ridge it would leave, even if I trimmed it really short. Is there any way to fix that?
Thank you!
